From Boston to Springfield, the travel site put together a list of the top pizza joints in the state.
While the top-ranked spot is located in Boston, there are many others worthy of recognition.
The aptly named Salty Pig, near Back Bay and South End, is known for their build-your-own charcuterie board, which includes cured prosciutto, spreadable pork rillettes pate, and pork sausages.
“I am mad at myself for not taking more pictures,” one Yelp reviewer said. “As someone visiting from a place famously known for terrible pizza (e.g. Seattle), I set out looking for the best spots in Boston. I was NOT disappointed!”
Area Four, located near MIT’s campus in Cambridge, landed in the number two spot.
Their gourmet pizzas are made from scratch with dough fermented for 30 hours, which go well with craft beers and toppings such as maple bacon, according to Big 7.
“Highly recommend any of the savory pastries including ham and cheese, spinach and cheese, and banana peppers and cheese,” a reviewer said on Yelp. “Chocolate or almond croissants are also executed well.”
At number three, Regina Pizzeria, located just a few blocks from Fenway Park, is known as “the official pizza of the Boston Red Sox.”
“I won't claim to be a pizza expert. I'm no Dave Portnoy,” another Yelp reviewer commented. “I don't think you can go wrong with their traditional plain pizza. Of course, their white Pomodoro Formaggio is maybe a better choice... insanely good, covered in garlicky 4-cheese awesomeness.”
Springfield’s Red Rose Pizzeria in fourth place, opened by Edda and Nicola Caputo in 1963, uses authentic recipes from Naples.
Big 7 Travel recommends trying Red Rose's house special, which is topped with pepperoni, red and green sweet peppers, and tons of mozzarella cheese.
“The 3rd time I visited, I decided to try some appetizers, and I'm glad that I did,” a Yelp reviewer recalled “My bf and I shared some mozzarella triangles with marinara sauce, and they were very tasty!”
At number five, Nana’s Pizza in Everett has been described as “life-changing.”
“UMMM YUM,” another reviewer wrote. “Cheese pizza dreamy. Cinnamon sticks delish. Can't wait to add on some more pounds trying some of their other dishes.”
